Admissions Process

Entrance Exam

Either the last Saturday of September or the first Saturday or October is the Year 7 Entrance Test

Students are selected for entry into year 7 by sitting an Entrance Test at the beginning of year 6 (September/October). Parents who wish to enter their child for the test must do so via the school’s website and applications must be received by the date stated on their website.

The entrance test consists of a Mathematics test (50 minutes) and an English test (50 minutes) and is marked out of a score of 320.

Places are allocated according to the following criteria;

Up to 27 places will be available to the highest scoring applicants who are eligible for free school meals and who achieve an entrance test score of 213 or more.

The remaining places will be available to all other highest scoring applicants.

Places at the school are highly sought after with over 1400+ applicants sitting the entrance test and only 180 students being admitted each year.

Preparing early for the test is essential with many students seeking our support. Brilliant Minds is built upon a successful track record of 12 years. In 2022 57% of our students achieved a place at The Liverpool Blue Coat School (71% of our students achieved a place at a selective school). Our group tuition offers the opportunity to sample the teaching styles of the school and the high expectations required of them. Our goal is to ensure students feel confident when it comes to the day of the exam.
